Step #1: Clean the area with soap water
There are chances that debris may have accumulated around the stickers, which may cause some damage when you are trying to remove the stickers as it is. So, you have first to clean the sticker and the surrounding area thoroughly to prepare for removal. Use some mild soap diluted in water and a clean cloth or sponge to do the same. You can also attempt the removal of car stickers immediately after a thorough car wash.
Step #2: Heat up the area
The next step you need to consider is to get the sticker loosened by lightening the adhesive. An ideal home tool which we can use for the same is a hairdryer. You can also think of a professional heat gun if it is handy. However, while using a heat gun, you have to be very careful about the power level. It is a very powerful tool, and if the amount of heat applied is too high, it may damage the paint. Try to distribute heat evenly through the sticker and make sure to heat the edges too. By giving it a good 2-minute heating, you can easily loosen the adhesive. If there is no heat gun or dryer available, you can pour some boiling water over the decal to heat the adhesive and loosen it.
Step #3: Peel off the sticker
You can try to peel the sticker off by using a thick plastic card or by hand at the next step. Start from one edge and slowly progress to the other corner. Please do not use a razor or knife to remove the sticker as it may damage the paint. Use the plastic card around all the edges and try to release it slowly from the surface.
Step #4: Make use of a glue removal product
Once the car sticker came off, you may still have some residues leftover on the surface. You may use a glue removal product to get rid of it fully without hurting the paint. If there are no glue removal solutions, you can try out the same with vinegar. Once after applying the remover, you can use a dry cloth to rub the area thoroughly and get rid of any residues.
Step #5: Wax the area
After removing all the resides and thoroughly cleaning the surface, you can apply some wax to the area, which will offer an additional protective layer. While applying wax, you need to be very careful and follow all instructions carefully.
